Living Out Of An RV - Hobbies Fit Great In A RV

Living out of an rv does not mean that you have to leave all your hobby interests behind. In fact, you will probably find that you are developing new interests and activities as you meet and become friends with new acquaintance. Some hobbies that we have found work very well with life in a small fifth wheel trailer add a great deal of enjoyment to our rv experience.

1. Beading and beaded jewelry making.

The world of beading and beaded jewelry making covers a lot of different forms. Beading is a hobby that easily fits onto the surface of a dinette booth or dining table. It also lends itself to the folding tv tray size of table. This hobby can be as complex or simple as you want it to be and is a great way to express your hidden creativity. A few simple hand tools and a supply of beads will get you started. Beading is a very popular hobby among rv'ers and an instructor is easily found, either through organized classes at the rv park or through the friendship of a fellow rv'er.

Further instruction and guidance can be found on line in the many video offerings that detail some facet of the beading and jewelry making art. There are also both free and paid tutorial websites to be found by doing a search on line.

2. Digital photography and video making.

Today's wonderful array of digital cameras range from the simple snap shot camera to the very sophisticated digital SLR professional camera. No matter where you park your rv, there are always many interesting subjects on which to train your lens. Move beyond the snapshots of friends and family, although don't neglect these important subjects, and look for the little details in the world around you. There are always wildlife subjects abounding in your environment, from the largest animals normally thought of a wildlife subjects to the very lowly but interesting insect life found everywhere.

With a digital camera and laptop computer, you have a complete "darkroom" for processing and creating works of art. Most digital cameras have a video function that will record a few seconds of full motion video. These can be edited into a short video clip using the built in Windows Movie maker program and uploaded to many video sites on line. Yes, even you too can become a movie mogul.

3. Loom knitting.

Knitting with needles has long been a favorite activity of many people. The invention of the round knitting loom has opened up this relaxing activity to even the klutziest of us. These simple plastic forms are reminiscent of the simple pot holder maker of your youthful camp activity. These looms, however, have been developed to be far more practical and useful than that.

By wrapping the yarn around the pegs and then lifting one or more strands over to the inside, many interesting and useful items can be produced. One favorite activity is the production of very small knit caps, to be donated to the preemie ward of a local hospital. These little caps are always welcomed by the nursing staff and they are put to a good use.

Again, an on line search will turn up many sources of materials and instruction for this hobby.

These three hobbies all lend themselves very well to the limited interior space of the rv. The few materials needed pack into a small space and still provide hours of relaxing, creative entertainment.
